105km 1st Adventure Biking - Taguig to Daranak Falls, Tanay Rizal, v.v.

What:      First Adventure Biking
When:     February 5, 2012
Where:    From Home in Taguig City to Daranak Falls, Tanay, Rizal and Back
Distance: 105 km

Brief Description:

This day marked our 1st year of running together. We had our first commercial run, 3k, last yr with Condura Run For the Dolphins 2011.  We were supposed to run 42k with the Condura Run for the Mangroves 2012.  But since we have not totally recovered yet, not physically, but financially, from our Cebu City escapades, which include our 21km Camotes Island Run and 42k Cebu City Marathon, we decided to have our own LSD.  It turned out to be an LSB(Long Slow Bike).  It was our first time to bike together that far.  We once biked last year for only about 20 km, from our home to BGC and back.

This was an "Amazing Race" for us since the rest of the experience are all "first time".  Come join us in our First Adventure Biking together.

Map:

The map was traced from Daranak Falls, Tanay, Rizal to our Home in Taguig.  Since it was still dark when we left home, at about 4:30am, we got lost on our map somewhere in Pasig City.  It cost us 8km more.

Photos:

This was our 1st bridge, crossing Ilog Pasig .

On the right tract at last!  Welcome to the Artists Paradise: Angono Rizal!

Fronting kilometers of fish pens.

The first group of bikers we met, somewhere in Angono, Rizal.  They are heading Morong, Rizal.

Ups!  Some repairing to do, somewhere in Binangonan Rizal.

Tsk...tsk...At this point, I thought we will already be heading back home.

Thanks God, it was only a minor problem, so we went on...

Feeling high on top of hilly Binangonan, Rizal.  This is fronting Laguna Bay, but impossible to take pictures of it since we were facing the sunrise.

Got nervous biking this almost 45 degress downhill.  My grips already made my hands numb.  My first time though.

We already walked this hill up on our way home.

The intersection of Cardona circumferential road.

Cardona's Uphill Half.

The "give-and-take" part.

The second group of Bikers we encountered.  The Cardona circumferential road is their training ground.

Down the Cardona Hill, resting a bit.

That was the hill in Cardona, on the background, that we had just braved.

Morong Rizal at last!

Had our "brunch" here, Jollibee Morong branch.

Recharging, while keeping watch on our bikes.

A monument of a hero in Morong, Rizal.

The 3rd group of Bikers, which happen to be Vice Mayor Junvic Saguinsin's group.  Whoa, they just arrived from Baguio City, they said.

Some landmarks going to Tanay, Rizal.

Exhausted.  Now trekking Sampaloc Road, Tanay Rizal.  The uphills never stopped.

Near the intersection to Daranak Falls-Sampaloc access road.  Got to have some fresh fruits first.

The longest 2.5km to Daranak Falls!

Aurora Farm along Daranak Road.

A Stations of the Cross.

Here we are at last!  Took us 7.5 hours to get here.

The fees are public-friendly.

Yes, you can bring in your bike here.

Mission half-accomplished!  One of my favorite profile pictures.

Bike Conqueror of Daranak Falls.

Proud couple on the loose.  Biking is honeymooning.

Wohoo! 49 kilos!

Savoring the view and fresh air while resting here for about an hour.

The beautiful Daranak Falls, Tanay, Rizal.

Cleaning our bikes in the river nearby.

I think it is believed that this place shows some form of electromagnetism that enables rock arrangements like this.

We are 100% sure we'll be back here sooner or later!
Now, time to accomplish the 2nd half of the mission.  Took us 6 hours to get home.
Next falls coming up - Hinulugan Taktak, Antipolo, Rizal.
Please see next blog!

THE END
